Martha's Brother ... Robert

Martha's brother, Robert has been very blessed... in some ways.

He has AML (Acute Myloid Luekemia).  He responded well to his chemo with very little side effects.  Then he was selected for a stem cell transplant.

Siblings usually have about a 30% chance of being a match...  Martha was a perfect match, as was her other brother, Dick.  Her sister Sue was a 30% match.  Pretty much a miracle.  Females that have had children don't work as well as males.  So Dick was the donor.  They harvested his stem cells the second week of January (about like giving blood)... and gave them to Robert the first of February.

By the 10th day after the transplant you should see new white blood cell being produced... but they didn't show up well until  the 11th day his white blood count was up about 3%... and the miracle continues.

Robert has had very little side effects except for hair loss... he was already hair challenged so you can hardly tell the difference... Sorry Robert...

He will be dismissed from the hospital in a few days and will have to remain within 5 minutes of MD Anderson... he lives in Waco.  There are a few places that are prime for a person in this situation, but none of them were available... until today exactly one hour after the doctor told him he was being released (that's a God thing)... he has access to a two bedroom "cabin" in a RV park on a lake near MD Anderson.  We are not sure what that means, but right now everyone is elated... another miracle...
