Side trip to Whitefish, Montana

I made a quick two day trip to visit an old fraternity brother in Whitefish, Montana.  I flew to Spokane and drove the rest of the way (4 hours).  Wayne suggested I take a road on his map (wasn't really on mine)... "it might be fun" he said.

I was by myself on a two lane road in the national forest for 3 hours... with no road signs...

It was rewarding... there were many views like this and no people at all.

Photos don't give the proper scale.

This is about a 40 mile view.

There was not another person in sight.  I parked on this bridge and meditated for 15 minutes... all alone.

Lake Koocanusa straddles Canada and USA.

 Standing Bear Cabin.

I had a nice visit with Wayne that included a round of golf at Whitefish Lake Golf Course.  Wayne had just gotten back from a "Moose" hunt in Alaska and looks the part.  We both got our "Moose" last week.  His was a 56 inch trophy for his cabin.

On the way back I went a different way so I could go by Hope, Idaho.  A little railroad town of 200 people... the sign still shows a population of 200.

I had good memories of the place my parents had here.

43 miles to the end of Lake Pend'Orielle... (ponder-ray).  It's 1200 feet deep.

This photo is from the road below our old house.  The view in every room in the house is much better than this.  I miss it.

Wonderful pictures !! Isn't it wonderful to nourish our spirits by taking "the road less traveled" sometimes
glad you had a chance for a time out
